Oak Park Pecan Co.

How do you brand a bag of pecans. Well this is how Corvus does it. The first step is to identify the story behind the brand, and if needed, polish it up. For the Oak Park Pecan Co, no embellishment was required. It is a very home-grown company that packages chemical-free, organic pecans that are collected from the many pecan trees in the Oak Park neighborhood of Sacramento, Ca. The pecans are then washed, packaged, and sold to natural food markets, including Elliot’s Natural Foods. For the packaging, cloth bags are used to instill that home-grown vibe and dressed up with the screen-printed logo in three colors: maroon, olive, and black. The final touch, was small hang tags that had the logo on one side, and full color photos on the other. We used “Mini-Cards”, from Moo, because we were able to add up to 100 different pictures on one run of cards. This allowed for colorful pictures of pecans, trees, and the neighborhood to further tell the story of this company.

I’ve known this team for a long time, and to date, they’ve never let me down. Their work on my packaging hit the mark on all fronts. Opening discussion and delivery of art was about twenty minutes of gold. The sample bags were delivered , print screens were created, colors were matched to proofs, and the bags were printed; I didn’t even ask to see a tester set. They nailed it. I delivered three bags of our “tasty” pecans for them to enjoy around the office as a Thank You and then these photos arrived! Printing isn’t even the main focus of this venture, its just one of their many skills. They are literally teaching me to manage a brand from the first step…

My Brand will continue to grow (ha!), but that first 20 minutes in the funky little Corvus office at the Retrolodge in Downtown Sacto, will be at the heart of everything.
